What is Payment Guard Advantage?
TruStage® Payment Guard Advantage Insurance, underwritten by CUMIS Insurance Society, Inc., is a protection plan that provides a financial safety net when the unexpected happens.
You choose your coverage amount and premium. When a covered event occurs, you'll receive that amount as a lump-sum cash benefit to help cover your expenses.
How it works
-
A covered event occurs
This includes a covered involuntary job loss or disability due to accident or illness. Coverage begins 30 days after your policy starts. -
File your claim
Submit your claim online. You will need to provide supporting information, such as records from your employer or doctor, so we can review your eligibility. -
Receive your benefit payment
Once your claim is approved, the coverage amount you chose is sent directly to you.
Key features
- If you experience a covered job loss or disability, you will receive a lump sum benefit paid directly to you.
- Simple monthly bill that keeps things clear and predictable.
- Flexibility to use the benefit payment to pay your loan payments or other expenses. This is a unique benefit that may not be offered by other payment protection products.

What does Payment Guard Advantage cover?
Payment Guard Advantage provides payment protection during major life events you cannot plan for or prevent. Coverage includes:
-
Involuntary job loss
If you experience a covered involuntary job loss, you may receive a cash benefit paid directly to you to help with expenses. -
Disability from an accident or illness
If you are disabled for at least 30 days due to a covered accident or illness, you may receive a cash benefit paid directly to you to help with expenses.
These benefits help you stay financially stable during life's "What now?" moments.
What does Payment Guard Advantage not cover?
Payment Guard Advantage is designed to cover events outside your control, so there are a few situations it does not apply to:
-
Job loss and occupation exclusions
Voluntary resignation, termination for cause (e.g., misconduct or performance), seasonal layoffs or losses known prior to purchase. Self-employed, contract workers or jobs referred through a union hiring hall are ineligible. -
Disability exclusions
Normal pregnancy, war, elective surgery and surgeries with elective timing that were known prior to the effective date of the coverage or pre-existing conditions within the first six months of coverage.
Read your policy carefully. This is just a summary. The policy itself contains the complete terms and exclusions that will control. During the first 30 days, you can cancel at any time for a full refund.

How does it work?
Meet Dave
Meet Dave. He's 34. He just bought a fixer-upper and took out a $20,000 personal loan to build the kitchen he's been dreaming about.
He's excited, but like most people, he's feeling a little pressure by taking on new debt.
The decision
While filling out his loan paperwork, Dave sees the option to purchase Payment Guard Advantage. It's affordable. It's straightforward. It's billed directly to Dave each month, which keeps it predictable with no surprises.
He applies for the coverage offered by TruStage because it feels smart, not scary. With his policy issued, he's secured a simple way to give himself breathing room.
The "what-if"
Fast-forward six months. The kitchen is done, and Dave couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
But then he gets an email from HR: Company restructuring.
Dave's been laid off; he's just lost his job through no fault of his own. What does he do?
The outcome
Instead of panicking, Dave files a claim online. Payment Guard Advantage steps in with the cash benefit paid directly to him, giving him breathing room. Dave can use the funds to make his loan payments and pay other expenses.
His new kitchen remodel doesn't become a financial crisis or panic; it's his dream kitchen that he planned for.
Dave doesn't have to stress. He can focus on what's next, not what he owes.*
